Trying to learn about supplements, new foods, and trends in the health industry can be very challenging considering that most of the research and information available is written in scientific jargon that only doctors can understand. I myself have been faced with this issue many times, so I was thrilled to hear about the new Research & Your Health educational resource created by CHFA and InspireHealth, Canada’s foremost integrated cancer care centre.
The idea behind Research & Your Health is to offer the latest scientific research in accessible, everyday language. A group of doctors, including Dr. Hal Gunn, MD, Dr. Ron Puhky, MD and Dr. Julius Halaschek-Wiener, PhD have taken the time to carefully select and translate abstracts from medical databases world wide so that the average person (like you and me) can understand them. Their focus is mainly on the value of natural health and organic products as preventative health measures. As a healthy and active individual I am always looking for new research on natural products and I have found these abstracts to be fascinating!
Two editions are now available, Winter 2010 and Spring 2010. To you give a glimpse of what you can expect to read, these are some of the abstracts they tackled:
High Vitamin K(2) intake may protect against heart disease
Taking Vitamin D and Calcium supplements reduces cancer risk
Mediterranean diet may protect from Alzheimer disease
Consumption of soy foods may reduce prostate cancer risk
